Rainbows always remind me of Grandma. My Grandmother had crystals hanging in all of her windows. When the sunlight shined through, the crystals would cast tiny, vibrant rainbows all around the room. As a child this was unbelievably captivating. It was so beautiful.
So as a tribute to Grandma and a welcome to Spring, I have lovingly created these dainty rainbow necklaces with tourmaline stones. I hope you adore them.

My personal favorite wasScarlett Johansson
Scarlett's emerald dress by Versace and edgy haircut formed the perfect canvas for the Piaget Mediterranean Garden ear cuff set in 18k pink gold. The cuff contains five pear-shaped emeralds, four pear-shaped aquamarines, two pear-shaped green tourmalines, and 278 brilliant-cut diamonds. WOW.
Her birthstone is Topaz, just in case you were wondering.
What I loved about the cuff is that it completed an asymmetric look with the simple stud in her right ear. Balanced asymmetric designs draw attention- the good kind- and are hard to achieve. This look hit the mark.
Way to go Scarlett! You are the Jewelry Empress of the Oscars this year.

Here we go again!
There has been so much happening in the studio that I've barely been keeping my head above water. As you might have noticed, this is the first post in many months!
The studio has moved twice in the past 8 months and I am happy to say that we are here to stay- at our new home in Fort Worth. The studio is up, ready, and rocking, and there are LOTS of designs on the bench.
Sabrinah Renee, boutique jeweler was invited to participate in NEW YORK FASHION WEEK 2014 with Emerging Trends. This group put on an amazing runway show at Boston Fashion Week last October, and I am proud to be a part of their debut in NYC this September.
The date is coming up quick and there is lots to do, as usual. I've decided to make some huge, bold, stop-you-in-your-tracks, off-the-wall pieces that will grab attention from the front to back row of spectators at the show. I have some great new ideas that include a lot of agate and a mixture of precious metals, including some GOLD. There will be lots of metallic stones like hematite and pyrite, and some copper as well since I have been so recently captivated by its beauty. Copper may not technically be a precious metal, but is precious in my books!
Keeping me company in the studio has been the history channel, with many shows about space exploration. This is an interest of mine and has been great inspiration for some of my latest pieces, including this "Lunar Eclipse" pendant with a gorgeous green Amber gem.
I plan to be more active here on my blog and website, so please keep watch as my newest ideas and pieces take form!
Are you ready for the Super Moon? On June 23rd, 2013 we will have one. A big one.
A Super Moon occurs when the Earth, Moon, and Sun are in alignment, and when the moon is at perigee. Perigee is the moon's closest point to Earth within it's orbit. In one year there is an average of 5 Super Moons, but this Super Moon is particularly special.
On June 23rd, the full moon will occur only 22 minutes after the moon reaches perigee, the closest the moon will be to Earth not only this month, but also for this entire year. It will be and ENORMOUS full moon, VERY close to Earth, and therefore VERY powerful.
Now is the best time to recharge your gemstones! Cleanse them in running water first, then place them in the light of the Super Moon.
As you probably know, the moon is responsible for the ebb and flow of tidal waters. During a Super Moon, the tides are effected even more, rising higher and falling lower. Being that the human body is up to 60% water, don't be surprised if this Super Moon has an affect on you and those around you, heightening emotions.
This Super Moon has been on my mind and has inspired this reticulated silver "Super Moon" pendant.
This Super Moon is a phenomenon that should not be missed. The best time to view the Super Moon is when it's closest to the horizon, giving the amplified illusion that it's even LARGER. It will rise in the East at sunset.
Let's keep our fingers crossed for clear skies. Happy viewing!

I just returned from a FABULOUS vacation in Maui. There are no words to describe the beauty there. The cerulean blue of the oceans against the white, fluffy sand... inspiration everywhere- colors, flowers, textures, feelings, and traditions. You can look forward to some amazing new jewelry.
We had so many great adventures- My husband and I both have March birthdays and decided to take our "special" trip during this time. We knew the humpback whales were around the island, having their babies and preparing for their migration back to colder waters. Leading up to our trip I had been having dreams about being close to the whales, seeing them by the hundreds, and watching them play in the ocean. I thought upon waking, "This will be the trip of a lifetime."
The first morning that we woke up on Maui, we drove to the water. It was a rainy day so we parked at the docks and stared at the water from the car. To my amazement, we were barely there for 10 minutes before a humpback jumped completely out of the water. It was unbelievable. I mean, really unbelievable. I had a wonderful, warm feeling that this experience had set the pace of the trip for us.
During our scuba dive, we heard the whales singing to each other under water. They sounded SO CLOSE that I was unable to focus on anything other than the deep blue, ignoring the gorgeous fish and coral to gaze into the deep- refusing to miss that moment when a Humpback would swim by. I was totally enchanted.
We could see the whales from our hotel, every day, breaching over and over and over in the distance. It got me thinking about the power required to achieve such a feat. The mothers would bring their calves right up to the rock wall, so close I felt I could touch them if I just reached out. The whales had me mentally and physically captivated by their daily routines.
That's not all- The whale watch was next... I wanted to be CLOSER. We watched them flirt and play, slapping their fins and tails on the water, lifting their enormous and beautiful faces above the surface for us to see. Amazing.
The best came at the end of our stay, when we were celebrating our birthdays with a dinner cruise. We put our drink orders in and gazed at the horizon. The captain announced a whale surfacing in the distance, and steered the boat to investigate. As we got closer we could see a mother and her calf, the calf jumping clear out of the water. I thought, "wow, how lucky are we? That was SO CLOSE!" Before my eyes, he jumped again, even closer to the boat this time. He jumped again, and again, and again, and again. For 30 minutes I watched a brand new baby whale celebrating life, happiness, and freedom. I could see the smile on his face. It was overwhelmingly beautiful.
Tears rolled down my cheeks as I realized my dreams had come true.
Happy Earth Day!Earth is a huge inspiration when creating jewelry. The colors, textures, plants and animals that share our planet provide a continuous supply of imagery and beauty. By taking time to study the details that surround me, I find that the Earth activates my creative realm- a place where possibilities are endless, especially in jewelry.
This year I've decided to grow a vegetable garden to gain inspiration and life-balance through growing plants. With the help of my husband, I built two raised garden beds. I decided to paint them a vibrant purple, which is not only my favorite color, but also a color of healing and tranquility. I know my garden will help me discover new things about myself as well as rekindle my appreciation for the Earth. It will feel great to get my hands in the dirt and be invigorated by the beauty of growth.
Life has a way of wrapping up our minds which makes it easy to forget about living in the moment. Earth has a way of slowing things down, so we can take time to remember that we are actually alive. The Earth loves us, and it never stops giving. Every gemstone in every piece of jewelry you own originated from the Earth and vibrates with it's energy.
Our planet is taken for granted, easily neglected and most of the time just plain disregarded, but there is no way we could survive without it. How about we try making Earth a priority? With all the craziness of everyday work and errands, it's not practical to constantly think about protecting the Earth. However, we can at least make an effort to increase the time we spend loving the Earth, and in turn, loving life.
This Earth Day, make Earth your first priority. Plant something GREEN. Recycle everything you can. Give new life to something old so it can be reused. SLOW DOWN and take a moment to appreciate the beauty of a sunset, the smell of rain, the feeling of the sand between your toes, the detail in a simple leaf. Watch a colony of ants as they work together to accomplish an impossible task while leaving no "soldier" behind.
Our Earth is truly amazing and Earth Day is a celebration of it's glory.
Thank you, Earth. I am forever indebted to you and your endless beauty. I simply can't live without you!

Just north of Tanzania lies an ancient crater called Ngorongoro, formed by a volcano. This “Cradle of Life” contains rich soil and abundant water which make it a sanctuary for the animals and botanicals of Africa.
Aside from its natural benefits, the Cradle of Life has also provided scientists with a plethora of fossil finds of early man, signifying its role in the support of human life for thousands of years.
This geographic wonder inspired my design for this necklace, which is a commissioned piece for an expecting mother. Just as Ngorongoro cradles life, a mother cradles her new baby, sending rays of flourishing energy to her growing child.
Physically, rainbow moonstone will assist in healing the female reproductive system, and will relieve pain associated with childbirth and breastfeeding. It is also a great stone for removing harmful toxins as well as any excess fluids, such as with fluid retention.
The vibrant, changing color spectrum of Rainbow Moonstone is uplifting and energizing and may help to revitalize the emotions as well as the physical body.

Like most people, I have always loved the water. There is something so soothing and tranquil about the way it sounds and moves. When I'm near it, I can't help but stare and imagine the mysteries that lie beneath. Is it the same for you?
Since childhood I have been deeply fascinated by all the creatures of the Ocean. I feel that I have a bond with the Underwater World- the magnificently vibrant colors, the synergistic relationships between it's animals, and the beauty of it's most minor details. It is amazing to me that in the vastness of the Ocean we seek value in the luster of one tiny pearl.
There is a great mystery to the Ocean, like a secret that no one has ever told. So much of it has never been explored and ike tiny bubbles, thousands of questions are continually rising to the surface. What an amazing thing to think that we really have NO IDEA what else, or who else, is living on Earth along with us.
What about Mermaids? How many other species and families are living in the Oceans that we have yet to discover? Is a shark smarter than a human? I mean, there has to be a reason for it's ability to survive for millions of years.
And whales... are they sleeping? Or, are they meditating? oooooh. It gives me goosebumps.
It is a great desire of mine to share my Oceanic visions with you through jewelry inspired by the Sea. Please partake in viewing these fantastic new pieces. As usual, there will be more to come!
The Saul Bell Design competition is for jewelry designers around the world. Presented by Rio Grande, the award is a challenge for designers to think outside the box and break through traditional methods of jewelry design.
I've entered my newest creation, the "Vanishing Point" necklace, made from fine and sterling silver wire and Tourmalinated Quartz. Each and every component is hand made, including the individual chain links. This piece is entered in the Silver/Argentium® Silver category.
The name "Vanishing Point" was inspired by the vanishing point technique in linear perspective drawing, where all lines converge toward the center. I thought this Tourmalinated Quartz stone was perfect for this idea due to it's clear color with the tourmaline stranding, as the tourmaline crystals seem to "disappear" within the stone.
Tourmalinated Quartz is a powerful stone for balance. It is a great problem solver and can help turn negative thoughts and energies into positive ones. It will aid in detoxification of the body and alleviate digestive issues.
Grand prize is a $10,000 gift certificate to Rio Grande Jewelry Supply. Finalists will be announced in November. Keep your fingers crossed!
After a short and beautiful hike, we ended up at the "Secret Lava Pools" where the waves were crashing against the lava rock coast. A sea turtle was somehow swimming among the waves right at the rock line. So close it seemed I could reach out and touch him. It was an amazing sight!

I am always inspired by the ocean as well as it's creatures. There is something truly magical and elusive about them. My latest piece was inspired by this photo of the Man O'War Jellyfish. Beautifully deadly.
I chose the Larimar gemstone for this design due to it's properties as well as it's gorgeous blue color. I believe I was able to capture the liquid movement of the Man O'War by using chain and thick guage wire to create the "tentacles."
Larimar is a stone that is said to bring one closer to the ocean by opening channels of communication with ocean creatures. It also brings peace and tranquility to the wearer.
Like a Man O'War lures it's prey, Larimar continues to lure me in with it's gorgeous blue hues and lightning-like patterns. A perfect gemstone for this creation.
Pleiades resides in our galaxy, and is approximately 500 light years away from Earth.
The Pleiadians, an ancient, human-like race originating from Pleiades, discovered Earth during space exploration.
They entered our cycle and stayed with us through many of our world's transformations, guiding us to a more spiritual path.
Blue Zircon is said to stimulate all chakras and open the doorway to higher realms. It energizes psychic abilities and allows one to easily identify and accept spiritual guidance.
The fourth of July is one of my favorite holidays.
One thing I've always remembered about this summertime celebration is that Tiger Lillies are in full bloom.
These flowers are a fabulous vibrant orange that can create fields of color.
I realize we are in the middle of winter, but doesn't this necklace just remind you of a hot summer day, maybe fireworks to follow? Who ISN'T thinking about warm weather right now? I know I am...
